Half Empty or Half Full?

Half Empty or Half Full?
Half Empty or Half Full?

Have you ever held up a glass whose content is just about the mid-line? Would you say it is half empty or half full? Whichever one you say is correct but that shows your thought process.  This same thought process to a large extent affects our perception of possibilities in real life situations because this is the simple definition of an optimist and a pessimist.

When you see things in the midline as half empty then your thought process is tolling the line of pessimism but when you see them as half full then you are on the optimist side. The big difference here is that while one believes it can get better (half full) the other thinks it can possibly get worse (half empty).

This singular line of thought affects your believe in the possibility of a plan coming to actualization. When you are reaching for things and you succeed in just getting to the midline at a certain point, this perception would determine if you want to strive further or you want to just relax and let it be.

This was the same mindset with the biblical servants whose master when travelling gave them different talents. The one who had received five saw it as half full and with that realization he knew exactly what to do in order to make it full while he who had received one talent saw it as half empty and to him, there was nothing he could do because it was ‘already half empty’, you know the outcome of their decisions.

You may not have realized this before now but it matters a lot when you are striving to make it to the top with that wonderful idea, business, goal or dream of yours.

My advice is: train your mind to walk the “Half Full” line, it will go a long way at giving you comfort and a hope that it can only get better.

I believe in YOU.

Welcome to November 2014… It’s a great new beginning.

What Do You Crave For?

31/10/2014~SuccessJourney Daily Post with Nicholas Akomire ©2014

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhile growing up, I had lots of fantasies of so many things I wanted to have and those desires determined how I imagined life would be. Those fantasies to a large extent have changed over the years but what has remained constant is the understanding that whatever one gets out of life is determined by his cravings – great desires.

Your level of desire for something determines how much effort you put in to getting that thing. Do you want it badly enough or do you ‘just’ want to get it? Are you in for the real deal or just want to ‘give it a shot’? Is the dream worth keeping you awake late into the night and waking you up before everyone else or it’s another ‘let me just try’ game for you? That thought on its own would mean that you’d likely commit less time and resources to that goal because you don’t believe it strongly enough.

How does it feel to have ice cold water on a sunny day after a long walk? At that moment, the cold water is all that matters to you in the whole wide world. That should be your desire level for the important things that would determine the type of life you want.

This does not mean you get to lose touch with being human for you would be alone at the end, what it means is that you find a way to give that goal a good proportion of your time and resources for it to flourish. At beginning it might seem so far away but keeping up the desire and putting in more time would increase the chances of success.

If you think that goal is worth getting, develop a strong desire for it.

I honour you!

8. YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK.

savvy-quote-you-are-stronger-than-you-thinkMany a time, when we are faced with certain challenges, it is quite easy to forget how special and unique we are. We tend to lose confidence in ourselves, forgetting how far we have come and the huge successes we have recorded in the past. We forget that even for us to be conceived, we had to win a life deciding race while we were still incomplete. That on its own is enough reason to put your hands on your chest and say to yourself “I can do this”.

Renowned singer Bob Maley once said “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice”.

I have had the priviledge of listening to a couple of friends and young individuals talking about their challenges and doubting their abilities. I spend some time getting to know them and hear their stories and in my eyes these individuals are performing little miracles everyday and yet they don’t see it. I listen to stories of them going through school with little or no support, parents raising children, some with learning difficulties or physical issues, or just children in a fairly crazy world. This requires more guts than a rejection from some nobody who has not walked in your shoes yet wants to define your worth or a book publisher who hasn’t even bothered to read your book. Again, it’s all about perspective.

The truth is this: You are stronger than you think you are and you will achieve virtually everything you set your heart to do as long as you believe in YOU!

I believe.

Enjoy your day.

5. FIND A COACH

Find A Coach
Find A Coach

Whenever people want to go on a journey to a new destination, what they seek for is either someone to guide them, a map or a travel journal. This is because you don’t want to lose your way on your journey so you rely on the knowledge that someone else has gathered in order to get to where you want to be.

The same principle can be applied when you want to get that beautiful dream or project of yours from mere thoughts to fulfillment. There is virtually nothing that you want to accomplish that someone else has not done before, it may not be the exact same thing but in the same field or discipline. All you need to do is to tap into the expertise of professionals and accomplished individuals in that field and draw knowledge to get to where you want to be.

Just like every successful team boasts of a good coach, every accomplished individual would tell you they had someone to look up to. And most times it helps quite a lot to know that you have someone who would be there to guide your steps, throw in suggestions and correct you when you make mistakes and above all desires your overall success. s_coach_player

I have loads of coaches for whatever thing I wanted to accomplish. The good thing is that I didn’t even have to pay them as some of them had no idea they were coaching me! From family members to friends to bosses at different levels to Teajay Chunu to Steve Harris to John Maxwell etc. Imagine the bill if they knew!

So you do not really need to have one on one in order for them to coach you but if you do get that, it is quite excellent. Reading about them, following their blogs and publications helps to a large extent and adding them on social media would ensure you get anything they put out there.

Do not run blindly, find a coach.

Do you have a Coach?
Do you have a Coach?

Have a wonderful week.

I honour you!

The Things Successful People Do…And Why They Work!– Part 10

Never Be Too Proud
Never Be Too Proud

7.Never Be Too Proud!

The tendency to become proud is in everyone of us once we begin to walk the path of success or achievement. We tend to feel we should no longer be answerable to anyone, or that we have grown above some form of correction or that we should no longer apologize to our subordinates even when we are certain we did wrong.

I for one had this challenge but I have worked on myself and have improved over the years. If you continue on this path and not make amends there are only two possible outcomes: you’d either work yourself from being a success to being a failure or you’d become very successful but lonely. Lonely in the sense that the you’d succeed is chasing away the good people in your life that can tell you the truth and you’d be left with sycophants who really do not care about you but just what you have.

The remarkably successful are fearless; never too prideful to admit a mistake or to apologize. Even when successful, we are still humans and still prone to mistakes and we would kill the zeal of the team when we cannot own up to our mistakes and apologize.

Being remarkably successful also means being able to admit that you owe your success to others, and that you’ve asked for help. We all had help and we need help along the way and whenever the opportunity presents itself, always appreciate those who were with you through the journey and who supported and ran with your vision and even those who left halfway. By such, you open your arms to receive more support in time to come.

And finally, Never be too proud to think you cannot fail because you had succeeded in something in the past. The same amount of care and hard work should be put in to maintain the success you’ve achieved.

See you at the top!

Have a great Sunday celebration.

I honour you!

6. Be A Good Marketer!

Good Marketer
Good Marketer

Having a dream and working towards that dream is one of the greatest things in life but also very important is having people to buy into that dream or goal especially where you need a team to work with you in achieving that dream or where you need customers to patronize that thing you’ve newly introduced.

This is so important that in Habakuk 2: 2 God said “…Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tables that everyone who passes may be able to read it easily and quickly as he hastens by” – (AMP).This is a very important aspect in the fulfilment of your dream so you need to do it very well.

Your ability to market what you do will contribute greatly to your success. It is not manipulating or pressuring, it is knowing how to negotiate, build relationships and communicate with a large variety of people. If you don’t get your team to properly understand what you hope to achieve, they can end up messing up your great plans.

Also quite important is your relationship building abilities, no man is an island, you need to be able to get people thinking good about your dream or product cos’ that is when they would see its importance.
Starting with your friends and family members and asking them to recommend you is a great way to start then you can extend to the groups you belong (religious, social etc.).
Your ability to sell is what will allow you to overcome objections and convince others to work with you.

Develop your marketing skills just as you grow the dream.

Enjoy your weekend.

I value you!

3.2. Avoid The Crowds – Do Not Follow The Herd!

Avoid The Crowd
Avoid The Crowd

Every single day that passes gives everyone of us an opportunity to prove to the people around us how great we are or could be, this is not by telling but by showing them with our outputs and products and successes. These are the things that measure our true value. Creating unique things does not necessarily mean new inventions, it’s one of the many ways, but it’s about offering products or services in a whole new way that makes it unique.
Depending on your industry or career, you can offer the same product or service as everyone else but you make yours stand out by how you offer it. Sometimes the uniqueness could be in the environment in which you offer it, your customer service approach, your method of delivery, your post sale service, the quality you put into the product etc. These are just but a few ways to make your dream stand out.
When interviewed, this is how Jana Francis, Founder of an Online Baby Care Shop, BabySteals.com described the uniqueness of her brand:
“My vision was to start a business that provided a wonderful buying experience coupled with high quality merchandise at a significant discount,” she said. “I want my site to also be entertaining. I want women to enjoy shopping with me.”
For Jana, the customer experience is the most important aspect of her business. She wants her customers to be overjoyed not just with the product but with the online community of shared experiences, the descriptions and photography of the product, the packaging and even a personal connection with herself and the employees. As a result, her customers genuinely care about the company’s success and become evangelists of the site.
Do you believe you can stand out? Then get busy and show the world how great you are with your output. Have faith in yourself for Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.

Have a lovely Wednesday.!

I honour you.
